A gallery talk for children by children.
Our family friendly gallery talk aims to encourage
children (and grown– ups) to talk and think about Art.
Looking at the work of Rose Wylie, children will be
able to share their thoughts and opinions with each other in a open and
creative environment. The event takes place in the Gallery and is intended for
children aged 8–12. Participating children must be accompanied by an adult.

tribalism and the end of the world, exploring the fallout when very different

Tonight I’m Gonna Be The New Me is an arresting physical endurance act that
crashes headfirst into an impossibly true love story — and out the other side.
It exposes how we perform our relationships amidst a reality that just won’t
live up to what the movies promised.

I’m Gonna Be The New Me pierces the bloody heart of our obsession with
outlasting hardship. Intimate and startlingly immediate, it defies you to watch,
in spite of yourself.

Apr 2pm South Wales valleys. 2016. Young men without work and without purpose,
facing a future filled only with the pinball machine and lager, are the subject
of this vivid, achingly alive play. Stefan, (Slupianek) cajoles his unemployed
friends into recreating the Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen’s infamous
expedition to the South Pole in his back garden. It’s a game, but is taken very
seriously indeed — involving raids on local camping shops and lessons in how to
make seal stew. For everyone involved, this make–believe feels more real than
their bleak everyday lives.
Staged during a time when icy winds continue to
blow through the British economy, and many young people have little prospect of
meaningful work, Karge’s drama is the right play at the right moment.
“It is often in the tiniest moments that hope is
found. In Manfred Karge’s The Conquest of the South Pole it is the cry of a
baby at the very end of the play, or is that cry simply one of despair, echoing

This spring we will be running another two 5–week
animation courses for young people on the Autistic spectrum and those with
special educational needs. These 90 minute sessions allow the young people
taking part to increase social confidence and to learn and develop new or
existing animation skills in a supportive, creative environment. Each session
can stand–alone or be part of a larger scheme of work, as an individual
learning programme can be created for each participant. Places are limited to 8
participants each week. £25
