As most of you will be aware, the NATO Summit has just taken place at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport.

World leaders such as Barack Obama, President of the United States of America, and David Cameron, The British Prime Minister, attended the important meeting.

During this time the police presence was very high. Police from all over Britain came to help the force, and some of the forces spotted were: Merseyside police force, London Metropolitan police force and the South Wales police force. Armed Police were even spotted carrying carbines (G36Cs).

As a part of this, many impressive displays of power and might took place over the two days that the meeting was taking place. For example, in the Roath Basin in Cardiff Bay, warships from all over the NATO Community made an appearance, including HMS Duncan, a type 45 destroyer currently in use by the Royal Navy.

On Friday 5th September 2014, an aerial flyby promoted the power of the NATO Community. Planes from all over the world took part, including F/A 18s from Canada and Eurofighter Typhoons from mainland Europe, and to finish it all off, the Red Arrows flew over in their diamond nine formation, and kindly let off some of their precious coloured smoke.

On Sunday 7th September 2014, Cardiff Council organised a 'Meet the Forces Day' where you could go on board the naval ships and see some of the army, navy and air force's different regiments and vehicles. Unfortunately, I did not manage to get on the Duncan, because they had closed it because the queue was four-and-a-half hours long to get on board.

Overall, although it did cause disruption, the NATO Summit brought a lot of good things to Wales. It also brought the announcement of a ceasefire in Ukraine! However, world leaders are skeptical about this agreement and are waiting to see if it actually takes action.

The NATO Summit brought many opportunities to Wales and all I have to say is well done Wales, we did ourselves proud.
