Petition: Amina Tyler
This is Amina Tyler, a young 19-year-old Tunisian who has condemned to death for publishing a picture of herself topless by a hardline Muslim cleric.
Amina posted on her Facebook account a picture with the phrase: “My body belongs to me and is not the source of anyone’s honour.”
She belongs to Femen the feminist movement group that emerged in Ukraine in 2008, who perform topless protests to attract attention.
“This young woman according to Islamic law deserves between 80 and 100 lashes, but she did much more than that so she deserves to be stoned to death,” said the religious Tunisian daily Assabah News.
Amina represents both Islamic women's rights and women's rights everywhere.
Please defend Amina, demand that her life and her liberty are protected and that those who have threatened her will be immediately prosecuted.
