Why is it that all girls nowadays are obsessed with people such as Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Justin Bieber?

It's only because they're attractive, not because they're actually good at what they do.

Robert Pattinson was a reasonably good actor in Harry Potter, but since Twilight hit cinemas, he's just gone downhill. Some of the scenes in New Moon would have been very moving, if it weren't for him and his terrible fake American accent! But it really annoys me that loads of girls always go on about him, and are also expected to.

You can't buy a teen magazine without his picture splashing at least one of the pages, and the editors going on about how "fit" he is. I feel like saying to them "Excuse me? You are a group of adults! Don't you think it's a bit scary to go on about how fit a twenty-four-year-old is?"

I once bought a magazine which included a countdown of the fittest teenage boys. Yes they are writing for teenage girls who would buy that kind of magazine, but when you think about it, isn't it kind of pervy? The magazine even said "Swoon" which scared me a little. And now of course they go on about Justin Beiber.

I don't really understand the craze about him to be honest. His voice tends to get on my nerves, and his songs are so annoying and unimaginative. Who sings a song where the majority of words to the chorus are "Baby"? There's maybe one line with different words.

The videos for his songs are so lame as well. In One Time he parades his 'friendship' with Usher, to make himself look even more cool. To me it makes him look so desperate. And in Baby the girl is so obviously not interested. But he just doesn't know how to take a hint. But of course she caves in at the end. The whole story is pretty lame, and just shows how inflated his ego is.

To be fair, Taylor Lautner is a pretty good actor. I thought he was pretty good in Valentines Day, but that isn't the reason he is in every girls magazine in the newsagents!

They always go on about his "buff body" and how he "works out". Why is this the defining point for most girls?

They never mention these male stars personalities in their pervy magazine articles. And the main point of the craze about them is their looks.

I saw a mock awards ceremony in a magazine and their only reason for giving Robert Pattinson the "Best Male Actor" award was "He's Edward Cullen. DO we need to say more?" Err yes you do!

There are so many brilliant actors out there, much better than a wannabe American pretty boy who starred in a lame adaptation of a very well written book.

Recently in History we have been watching the film Hitler: The Rise Of Evil, and I think Robert Carlyle's portrayal of the German leader is absolutely amazing, and that is just one example of the many outstanding actors and actresses out there!

As far as I know, the Twilight Saga hasn’t won any proper awards such as an Oscar, or a Golden Globe, or any of the more 'legitimate' awards. It can't compare to amazing, well directed, and well executed films such as Slumdog Millionaire.

Am I the only one who can see this or has this opinion?

you've mentioned one of my favourite actors! Robert Carlyle and David Thewlis is very under-rated in my opinion, he plays lupin in Harry Potter and is also in Mike Leigh's Naked and The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas,

The Truth is sex sells no matter how much we try to deny it or even censor it, in fact the more we censor it the more people want to see it. I disagree with the books being well written, well the 3rd and 4th ones, the 4th one mainly because the ending annoyed me.

If you haven't seen Downfall about the last days of Hitler, I highly recommend it. The actor Bruno Ganz is outstanding as the dictator. Unfortunately one scene has been overdubbed to death to lampoon various things on YouTube, but the original is awesome.

I totally agree! Robert Pattinson reaaallllyyy gets on my nerves! If you actually watch Twilight and New Moon properly you'll see that he really isn't THAT amazing! And Don't get me STARTED on Justin Bieber! That song drives me up the wall! I watched this programme today about him, and he's not very nice to people, and tends to overreact! I think you're right that other, better actors aren't given as much credit! For example Russell Tovey is an incredibly talented actor who's appeared in lots of British TV programmes.

This Hollywood habit of giving parts to people who look good but don't exactly play the part is infuriating to me too, but its great that there are people here that recognise this and are fans of real actors.
I think that in the UK we don't practice this to the extent that the Americans do, there are lots of films and dramas here that just let real acting talent shine, actors like the ones you have all mentioned.

I know, shouldn't preformers with some form of talent be the ones hammed up to centre stage, not the precocious baby voiced "Singers" with no talent at all? Anyone can sing a sing, but so few are actually talented musicians, such as Lady Gaga, who I found out is amazing at the piano!

I agree with you... many extremely talented actors, actresses and bands/singers have their achievements ignored simply because their not "fit". However I don't think that just because someone is "fit" that they are necessarily a bad actor etc. (Taylor Lautner!)

Awards such as hottest celbrity are fine as a joke and laugh, but the people who win them shouldn't consume our magazines. Real talent should be appreaciated much more than it currnetly is.

Exactly. Out of the three main actors in the Twilight saga, I would say that Taylor Lautner has the most actual talent, as an actor. But I still think it stupid, as mentioned in an earlier comment, that obsessive fans have t-shirts, and arguments over "Team Edward" or "Team Jacob". All that arguing isn't going to change the end of the book, it's already been written!

' , Teenage girls do not base everything on looks, most like people for who they are, but as we don't know Taylor Lautner personally we aren't in a position tocomment on who he is as a person.
And as for the video of Baby, of course'the girl is so obviously not interested.' That's the point of the song!
