Okay, so a week ago I started my school break. It was also the time when my nightmares started but there we go. I'm not going to talk about that however because I don't think it's all that important. Anyway...

My day at the office started when I got picked up outside my old primary school by Arielle (also known as theSprout editor). We were off to Fitzalan for the Cardiff Summer Learning Festival for the second day in a row. This was a great experience because not only did I learn more new and exciting stuff about theSprout (like how you can change the skins and having an inside look at what goes on when you submit articles, or news as it is known on here...) but I also got to meet three new members of theSprout who were all very enthusiastic about what goes on and in submitting new stuff.

I'm rambling a bit now, so I'm going to tell you what we did on this IT course. On our first day we basically signed up these new members, told them more about theSprout and gave them a chance to submit a new article themselves. We also discussed more topics on story ideas for the following day. To do this Arielle got me to write down a load of topics onto pieces of paper and fold them up for each individual to look at and say what they could write about it. Everyone's ideas were absolutely superb - I even had a go, if I do say so.

On the second day it was a lot more hands on work. We arranged for everyone - when I say everyone I mean three people (only reason I can think of is because the Summer Learning Festival sent out the course details via email for you to enter it all online, which sucks if you ask me) - to create a small video clip on a topic of their choice. The topic they chose was recycling, only it didn't end up being a message about recycling but more of a comedic video where a bin was a monster. I'm not going to tell you any more as you can watch it above for yourself. Anyway that was what we did in the Summer Learning Festival. This finished at 12 on both days.

After that, I didn't quite want to go home, so instead asked Arielle if there was anything that I could do at the office. It just so happened that she was grateful for me to be her 'little PA' for the day. So I had the wonderful job of finishing off the video we created today. I put in the music, credits and theSprout logo. Throughout the day I was asked for my opinions, I went to the shop and I got to see Dayana go for her interview and hear the results of it too. The results were better than was expected, love her she was so nervous - but it turns out she can stay for another twelve months which is wonderful! None of us want to lose the fantastic ProMo-Cymru worker do we?

Again I say I am rambling and I apologise deeply, I just really want to write out what happened. So anyway after my fantastic day at the ProMo-Cymru offices it was time to head over to theSprout Editorial Group (SEG) meeting. This is a once a month gathering of all us lovely Sprouters where we sit down, eat biscuits and have a wonderful chat! That isn't all we do, of course. Oh no! We discuss important matters too, important matters about what we want to change about theSprout and if there any reviews that need to be done etc. I have in fact volunteered to review a CD... Anyway back to the basis of the meeting. Arielle and I got there early with our packets of biscuits, carton of milk (although I had to dash off and buy some squash instead because we forgot about the coffee machine and the grudging librarians who don't seem to want to clear up our cups...) and our fabulous agenda sheets. I laid out said agenda sheets, lined up the chairs and places the biscuits on the table, ready for the meeting, so Arielle could set up her Mac and get things on the ball ready for everyone to come.

The meeting was fantastic and fun! Laughs all around. Even though there were only fourteen people present it was still a great ball of fun! This meeting went from 4:30 until 6pm - even then we were close to running over, because everyone had so much to say. My we are a talkative group aren't we? Especially me!

So anyway after the meeting ended we all shuffled along into the small cramped lift (that is supposed to hold thirteen people I may add, but just seemed to "comfortably" fit around eight of us...) and then we all went our separate ways. That was my day working for the wonderful people at ProMo-Cymru. Even though only a segment of it was actually at the office.

The video was created by our lovely members of theSprout: laauuren, Jeff the Fridge and Crystal (well done you guys!) and the next Sprout Editorial Group (SEG) Meeting is Thursday 25th August.
