Launch Of Child Poverty Animations
Children in Wales has launched a set of poverty animations with the voices of children and young people from across the UK. We asked them, "What is child poverty?"
The Investing in Children Alliance is a partnership of organisations looking at different ways to tackle poverty in the UK. Children in Wales was funded by the European Commission and Children in Wales.
The project has been working with children and young people across the UK on poverty, its impact and possible solutions. In developing a collection of 5 animations, we ensured that the resources would be suitable to children and young people but also engaging to adults.
Workshops were run in different regions of the UK on topics including health, education, housing, financial education and youth unemployment, and all the activities were audio-recorded.
Children in Wales then worked with Youth Friendly who specialise in producing information and resources for children and young people. Young people from Youth Friendly informed the design and development of the animation.
On Tuesday 16th December, an Investing in Children event was held in Cardiff with speakers from across the UK. The event also included the launch of the animation project.
