Evening, A Quiet Suburb
Open the window let the evening in,
Raise the blinds, lower the radio,
Look, listen, watch, hear
As the day settles down for the night.
Comforting car cruise
Distant on the main road close by
Bins are rattled out,
A neighbour hums between drags,
Leaves and litter scatter together
Like brothers racing for tea,
Front rooms flicker with television
Like splashes into the lamp lit dark.
Mind; release the day's worry
And await the cloak of sleep.
Consider the peace. Consider.
