FREE MUSIC TECHNOLOGY SUMMER SCHOOL
21 July?1 August for young people aged 16+
As part of the First Campus initiative, the University of Glamorgan is running a ten-day Music Technology and Production Summer School for two or three bands, ensembles, quartets or any other musical group aged 16+ years at the University of Glamorgan Atrium recording studios between Mon 21 July and Fri 1 August.
The Summer School runs between 10am and 4pm Monday to Friday and is entirely funded by First Campus. Lunch will be provided through the University Catering department and paid for by First Campus.
There will also be a 15 minute morning and afternoon break and participants can purchase something from the university coffee shop if they wish.
The aim of the Summer School is to give two or three music groups/bands an opportunity to write, compose, record and produce a CD of two songs which they can use as promotional material if they choose. Pupils will learn how to write a song from scratch and how to record and mix their own material using analogue and digital recording systems.
Groups/bands wishing to secure a place on the Summer School will need to attend an audition on Sat 12 July at the Atrium in Cardiff.
To arrange an audition please ring Jane Ellis on 01443 482912 or e-mail jellis@glam.ac.uk. All music groups will be given 15 minutes to perform a song/musical piece of their choosing. The audition studio will be set up with basic equipment including a drum kit, keyboards and bass guitar. Please feel free to bring your own instruments.
All music groups/bands from all musical genres and all musical abilities are welcome. Two or three groups will be selected from the audition day to participate in this exciting event.
