None of us really think about what goes in to building a computer and how everything is connected inside; people just buy a new computer when they need one.

Let me give you the story; I bought a new computer last year from Dinas Computers, Crwys Road, Cardiff (they sell extremely high quality computers for affordable prices) and I became interested as there was no branding on the casing of the PC.

I then took the side panel off and took a peek inside (at this point I didn't know anything about what each part was) and that is when I realised that it was a custom built PC. I had no idea that people could actually build a PC out of parts they had bought; I thought they were just made in factories. Just opening the side of that computer inspired me to do the same thing, so I started training myself using many different websites and loads of YouTube videos.

Two weeks ago I bought all the parts I needed and actually built the computer, which I then later installed Windows 8.1 onto. The whole process took me just over one hour and after watching all those videos, it was very easy! This is not the point though, building a computer is not only easy, it is also much cheaper. The computer I have just made cost me around £261, which has got 4GB RAM (Random Access Memory) 1TB Hard Drive (1024GB) and a quad core processor. Overall it is a very fast computer and very good for the price!

If people learnt how to build computers, not only would they be improving their technological skills, they would be saving lots of money and improving their understanding of how computers work. It is a life skill knowing how to use computers, and wouldn't it be great if people could expand a lot on this just by training themselves for a few hours?

If you are interested, have a look on YouTube and research on Google so you can end up doing what I have achieved! Take a look at the pictures I have uploaded so you can get a feel for what it's like inside a computer! I lastly wanted to point out that branded computers are not the best as they are often limited with memory and usually do not allow the expansion of things like RAM, Hard Drives, Optical Drives and Graphics Cards.

If you want a step-by-step guide on how to build a PC visit this website: http://lifehacker.com/5828747/how-to-build-a-computer-from-scratch-the-complete-guide or alternatively you can take a look at the YouTube video above!
