Auto-Tune Is Destroying The Music Industry
Auto-tuning is a good way of making a song sound better, but, today, there are hundreds of songs that are being wrecked by this. In the past century, there were no facilities to edit songs to this extent and, to be quite frank, I think that singers in those times were much better than the ones we have today.
When you hear a singer/band/group live, they are always just slightly out of tune. This is because when we listen to them on the internet (e.g. iTunes, YouTube), the song has been professionally edited to make them sound nicer.
Auto-tuning is usually done in a recording studio and it automatically tunes the voices to the pitch they are meant to be, but when a song is over-edited, the song can sound static and, sometimes, you cannot even hear the lyrics.
There are some voices that sound very bad with auto-tune and these singers don't need to be using it because their voices already sound good.
Some bands, for example, One Direction - who always sing flat when they are singing live (I saw them on TV on Children In Need and they were awful) - are just naturally bad singers and they use a lot of auto-tune to make themselves sound good.
To be honest, as this is the case, anyone could really be earning millions by just singing and using auto-tune!
