On Thursday 19th January 2012, WNO Principal Cellist Rosie Biss will be joining Sinfonia Newydd for A Journey To Szentendre in their most innovative programme of contemporary music showcasing some of Wales’ up-and-coming young composers.

The 90-minute musical journey will begin at 7.30pm in Cardiff’s newest concert venue, the Dora Stoutzker Hall, Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. This contemporary music showcase will see Biss take centre-stage for Metamorphosis for cello and string orchestra composed by Sinfonia Newydd’s composer-in-residence David Harrington.

Speaking of Biss’ involvement in the forthcoming concert, composer-in-residence David Harrington says “It is an utter privilege to have a professional musician of such calibre premiering my work.”

Artistic Director Toks Dada also adds “This performance opportunity for the ensemble, and it’s composer-in-residence, is a real indication of the ensemble’s development, as we further raise our own artistic standards whilst also leading the way for other student-led initiatives to do the same.”

Tickets are priced at £5 for adults, £2 for students and £3 for all other concessions, and are available now from the RWCMD Box Office (open Monday – Friday, 10am – 5pm) on 02920 391 391.
