Joint Enterprise is an old law that enables the right to prosecute innocent people if they happen to be indirectly involved in a crime but this must be stopped.

I firstly stumbled across this when I was watching a BBC program called Common a while back.

It tells the story of how a young boy is waiting in a car for his friends to buy a pizza, but while his friends are in the shop one of them stabs an innocent boy. They run back to the car and tell the boy in the car to drive off quickly without telling him what happened.

A few days later the boy is convicted of being a getaway driver and all his other friends were convicted for the murder.

Eventually the person who killed the boy owns up but all the others are still sentenced to around 5 or 6 years when they were completely innocent. This show was based on a true story and this law is definitely not right. Innocent people are having to spend years in prison, having years of their life taken off them when they haven't done anything.

When crimes like this happen, courts should review the situation more clearly and spend longer on making a final decision before they convict innocent people. I hope people agree with me that this is a really unfair thing and it should be stopped.
